Julio Aracil was born in Alicante, Spain, in 1983. He graduated in Photography and Digital Creation by Polytechnic University of Catalonia, Terrassa (Barcelona), in 2006. He completed his education in workshop and seminars with Spanish and international photographers like Alex Majoli, Chris Anderson, Donna DeCesare, Ciuco Guitierrez, Ron Haviv…
Between 2005 and 2008 he was working in personal projects in Equatorial Guinea and Australia. He was finalist of New Talent FNAC Spain 2008 in photography award with a project about the east of Australia. In 2008 he started to work as a professional photojournalist with assignments from Bloomberg and ATP. But that year in September he decided to move to Bolivia where he was working about social movements and political situation. Since 2008 he his work has been published in Geolino, The Guardian, The Observer, La Vanguardia, The Boston Globe, Poder, among others. He has been selected for Foto8 Summer Show 2009 in HOST gallery, London, for the Eddie Adams Workshop Barnstorm XXII and for a full tuition scholarship in Foundry Photojournalism Workshops. He also has received the third prize in Revela 09 International Forum The Photographic Report and Society. Since 2009 he is represented by 4see photographers and since 2010 by Corbis. |
